Ethan Hawke makes rare red carpet appearance with daughter Indiana, 15, and wife Ryan Shawhughes at Deauville Film Festival in France
Ethan Hawke turned his most recent red carpet appearance into a family affair.
On Friday, the 55-year-old actor was supported by his wife Ryan Shawhughes and their teenage daughter Indiana, 15, at the Deauville American Film Festival.
Along with being honored at the festival in Deauville, France, Hawke kicked off opening night with the premiere of his upcoming film, The Weight.
For the event, Hawke, who was one of the celebrity guests in attendance at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding, wore an all-black suit, coordinating with his wife.
The couple’s teenage daughter, who is Hawke’s youngest child, stood out in contrast as she wore a white dress and a coral pink cardigan.
The family walked the red carpet together, with Hawke wrapping his arms around both Shawhughes and Indiana for photos.

Hawke was recognized for his acting, writing and filmmaking career on opening night as he received the festival’s coveted Deauville Talent Award on Friday.
Following the award ceremony, Hawke and his family headed to the premiere of The Weight.
In the forthcoming historical drama, Hawke stars as Samuel Murphy, a man who becomes ‘imprisoned in a labor camp run by an unscrupulous overseer.’
The story follows him as he ends up ‘entangled in a periolous gold smuggling scheme in his pursuit to regain custody of his daughter.’
In the Padraic McKinley-directed film, Hawke acts alongside Russell Crowe, Julia Jones, Austin Amelio, Avi Nash, George Burgess and many more.
The Weight will receive a theatrical release later this month on September 18.
Hawke and his family’s red carpet appearance comes shortly after he and Shawhughes celebrated their 18-year anniversary over the summer.

Hawke is a father to four children, two from his past relationship and two with his wife Ryan.
The actor shares daughter Maya Hawke, 28, and son Levon, 24, with ex-wife Uma Thurman.
Hawke and his current wife Ryan share daughters Clementine, 18, in addition to Indiana.
He was previously married to Thurman, whom he met on the set of the 1996 film Gattaca, from 1998 to 2005.
Hawke and Thurman’s marriage ended amid rumors that he was having an affair with Shawhughes, the nanny of Maya and Levon when they were younger.
Hawke has repeatedly denied the speculation.

‘The public eye is like gasoline, but what makes divorce hard is the stuff that makes it hard for everyone — the family elements, how to help the kids through it,’ he told the New York Times in November 2025.
‘I’m so envious of people who have amicable splits,’ he added before ending the topic of discussion as he ‘vowed to [his] kids’ not to talk about it publicly.
‘When I split up, I was hellbent on not having any more kids and I wanted to be single for the rest of my life,’ he said. ‘But then I made a best friend and I liked kissing her.’
