Kate Middleton Brings the Sparkle in Glitzy 1st Tiara of 2026 at State Banquet
Kate Middleton kicked off this year’s tiara season in unforgettable style.
It was a full-on regal moment for the Princess of Wales, 44, who donned the iconic Lover’s Knot Tiara, a diamond and pearl headpiece created for the late Queen Mary in 1914, while attending the Nigerian state banquet at Windsor Castle on Wednesday, March 18.
She delivered just the right amount of sparkle and sophistication in the piece famously worn by the late Princess Diana while dazzling in an emerald green Andrew Gn gown, a color choice believed to be paying sartorial homage to Nigeria’s flag.
Middleton paired her look from the autumn/winter 2021 collection with Sapphire Fringe earrings that belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth and a Jenny Packham clutch.

The mom of three — who shares children Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, with husband Prince William — completed her ensemble with King Charles’ Royal Family Order in addition to the Royal Victorian Order sash and star.
William, 43, looked suave in a traditional white tie Windsor tailcoat paired with the Most Noble Order of the Garter Sash with the Lesser George.

They were joined by Queen Camilla and King Charles III, who posed for photos alongside Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and first lady Oluremi Tinubu.
While greeting his guests with a toast, Charles, 77, said, “We in the United Kingdom are blessed that so many people of Nigerian heritage, having chosen Britain as their home, are now at the heart of British life through excelling at the highest levels of business, technology, academia, law, science, sport, literature and the arts, and public service,” according to The Sun. “So much of Britain’s culture is, in truth, profoundly enriched by Nigeria.”
Kate last wore Queen Victoria’s Oriental Circlet, a diamond tiara honoring the late monarch’s German-born husband, Prince Albert, during the German state visit in December 2025.
