The red carpet forecast? Us Weekly anticipates clear skies with a 100 percent chance of polished updos.
Awards season is officially in its glossy era as the 2026 Actor Awards, formerly SAG Awards, and the Oscars prepare to welcome Hollywood’s most stylish celebrities.
Recent star-studded events indicate that fans can expect to see sleek buns, sculpted chignons and perfectly pristine twists. Us predicts fans will see more ballet-core looks to highlight necklines, sparkling earrings and off-the-shoulder dresses.
This year’s Actor Awards presented by SAG-AFTRA are set to take place at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles on March 1, celebrating outstanding performances in film and television.
Many A-listers will gather yet again two weeks later for the 98th Academy Awards, which kick off March 15 at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, to recognize excellence in cinematic achievements.
While the Grammy Awards and Golden Globes usually have stars taking a slightly looser, more undone take in terms of hairstyles, often sporting artfully messy looks, the upcoming events are the perfect time to opt for a shiny and smooth updos to pair with custom couture gowns.
“At the 2026 Grammys, trending updos felt glamorous yet playful, from Sabrina Carpenter’s elegant low updo with loose tendrils, to the more textured up-styles on the likes of PinkPantheress and Tyla,” Nicole Petty, Brand Director at Milk Blush told Us on February 2. “What ties them together is intentional structure balanced with softness — a trend loved by stylists who are blending classic glamour with today’s love of movement and personality.”
Petty pointed out that “using extensions in updos can bring extra volume and shape, helping to create styles that are both bold but importantly, wearable.”
Similarly, brushed-back styles have also been dominating red carpet events, which is why Us believes they will make a return in the coming weeks. “Sculpted updos and sleek, braided strands feel both elegant and edgy,” hairstylist Charlotte Mensah told Vogue. “Whether paired with full glam or a bare face, the effect instantly elevates even the simplest ponytail.”
Amanda Seyfried, for one, oozed Old Hollywood glamour when she hit the scene at the 2026 Golden Globes with a regal bun featuring curled face-framing pieces.
It was a stunning addition to her strapless ivory Atelier Versace gown, which took 400 hours to create, and was paired with Tiffany Co. diamonds.

“I wanted the hair to feel ethereal and timeless, soft yet sculpted, with a subtle nod to 1930s glamour,” Seyfried’s hairstylist Renato Campora told Variety about her look. “It’s all about building a flawless foundation and layering in intention, so the final look feels polished, romantic and effortlessly golden from every angle.”
More recently, Kate Hudson rocked a chic updo on the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards red carpet in London, complimenting her eye-catching red Prada dress that showed off her sculpted back.
Peter Lux styled her mane with a side part and Naoko Sofia Patrizia Scintu did her glowing makeup for the event.
