Danica McKellar is all about aging gracefully.
“This is 51! 🌟,” McKellar wrote via Instagram on Saturday, January 3, on her 51st birthday. “No makeup, no filters, just front-facing lighting and a healthy lifestyle to look — and more importantly — *feel* the best I can. 🙌.”
In her fresh-faced selfie, the actress smiled for the camera and showed off her freckles, wrinkles and natural brown waves.
“Today, I spent time with family (puzzling!), worked out, cold plunged in the ocean, and we’re about to have dinner,” she concluded her Instagram note. “Feeling blessed beyond words today!!”
McKellar also shared a few of her birthday highlights via her Instagram Stories.
“Time for my annual cold dip in the ocean for my birthday,” she said in footage of herself rocking a striped bikini in La Jolla, California. “Wish me luck. Here we go!”
After diving underneath the water, McKellar resurfaced and proclaimed, “Happy birthday to me.”
McKellar has previously been candid about wellness and embracing aging.
“If there’s any secret I’ve found to youth, it’s in the attitude … and a healthy, clean lifestyle, of course,” she wrote via Facebook on her birthday in 2023. “Our minds and bodies are inextricably connected.”
She continued at the time, “I’ve found when I eat well and get enough rest and exercise, I have so much more access to that inner joy that makes life fun! And when I discipline myself to see good (and laugh at the absurdities) in the world, resisting the seduction of outrage addiction, I find I’m more likely to stay in gratitude and make healthy choices … like going to bed early instead of staying up late to scroll through … all the things there are to be outraged over.”
According to McKellar, she had another “secret to life” to share with her followers.
“The other secret to life? Taking all that gratitude and giving back to the world in as many ways as I can,” McKellar stated. “My grandmother always said, ‘The way to be happy is to make other people happy.’”
McKellar famously rose to fame playing Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years from 1988 to 1993.

“When I was a teenager, right after the show, I was super ready for everyone to let go of that character and move on. I wanted to move on in my life,” McKellar, who was cast at age 13, exclusively told Us Weekly in 2023. “As I’ve gotten older now, I understand all the gifts that that character has given me and everyone else.I mean, the fact that people used to watch that show as a family and how beloved Winnie Cooper is, it really warms my heart.”
McKellar further explained what she had learned from her time on The Wonder Years set.
“Oh gosh, [I’d tell myself to] just ‘keep the faith,’” she quipped to Us at the time. “‘Keep the faith because it’s going to be a roller-coaster up and down.’ And, ‘It all works out, just like everything else in life, it all works out.’”
