A robot behind the turntable? New Spotify DJ tool uses AI to spin personalized mixes

Spotify announced Wednesday the beta rollout of DJ, which it described as “a personalized AI guide.” The feature mixes a selection of songs you might like based on data alongside an AI commentator with “a stunningly realistic voice.” (Think of a radio DJ.)
The DJ, Spotify said, will know your music taste so well it can choose what to play for you when you hit the button.

The company said the feature combines its existing personalization technology, generative AI through the use of OpenAI technology and an AI voice from its Sonantic acquisition.
