The Chicago Bulls are expected to sign free agent Patrick Beverley, according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnaraski.

The deal with Beverley, who most recently played for the Los Angeles Lakers, is expected to be finalized as soon as Tuesday.

The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 6.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 45 starts for LA earlier this season but was traded to Orlando at the Feb. 9 trade deadline. Three days later, on Feb. 12, the Magic waved him after reaching a buyout agreement. He then cleared waivers to become a free agent. (Chicago will have to waive someone to make room for Beverley, according to Wojnaroski.)

Chicago will be Beverley’s sixth NBA stop.

The 34-year-old played five seasons in Houston and four with the Los Angeles Clippers before spending most of the 2021-22 season with Minnesota. Beverly made the NBA’s All-defensive team three times: with the Rockets in 2013-14 (second team) and 2016-17 (first team) and with the Clippers in 2019-20 (second team).

Chicago (26-33) currently sits in 11th place in the Eastern Conference. The Bulls host the fifth place Brooklyn Nets (34-24) on Friday.
