name a new Twitter CEO, hoping to do so by the end 2023.
The current head of the social media company spoke via video call at the World Government Summit in Dubai Wednesday, talking about why he bought Twitter and his plans for the calendar year.
Musk said he wants to make sure Twitter is financially stable before finding a new CEO, as he already announced months ago he was planning to eventually step down from his position.
Musk said the end of the year would be “good timing” to find a new person to run the company.
“I think I need to stabilize the organization, and just make sure it’s in a financially healthy place, and that the the product roadmap is clearly laid out,” he said. “I’m guessing probably towards the end of this year. It would be good timing to find someone else to run the company, because I think it should be in a stable position around the end of this year.”

The search for a new Twitter CEO began after Musk posted a poll on the site, asking if he should step down as the head of the company, adding he would abide by the results.
Over 17.5 million Twitter users voted to the pool, with 57.5% of votes choosing “Yes.”
A few days later, Musk said he needed to find a replacement before stepping down.
“I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job!” Musk wrote on Twitter.
