Coming soon: The Teletubbies made their grand return in a trailer for the upcoming Netflix rebooted series on Tuesday. The show premieres on November 14

The reboot of Teletubbies is led by original series co-creator and writer Andrew Davenport who works alongside fellow writer Catherine Williams. The first season will consist of 26 12-minute episodes.

The latest trailer finds the Teletubbies looking mostly unchanged from the design of the original series, which was created by Anne Wood and Andrew Davenport and ran from 1997 to 2001.

The original show targeted toddlers, but quickly became known by all ages, even attracting bizarre controversy that involved televangelist Jerry Falwell accusing one of the Teletubbies, Tinky Winky, of being a ‘covert homosexual symbol.’

The show will bring back a crew that worked on the series that aired from 2015 to 2018 on Nick Jr. in the United States., which includes — Jeremiah Krage, Nick Kellington, Rebecca Hyland, and Rachelle Beinart — to once again take on the roles of Tinky Winky, Dipsy, La-La, and Po,

They return to speaking in the same excited, child-like gibberish, though the new narrator Tituss Burgess translates for them just fine.

‘Over the hills and far away, Teletubbies come to play!’ Burgess says pleasantly as the trailer opens.

New sun babies also make their debuts in the trailer.

‘Teletubbies love dancing,’ the narrator adds as they are seen busting a move on a the dance floor.

Then they gibber away excitedly as slices of round Tubby toast decorated with smiley faces are flung onto their table.

On Twitter, some fans were delighted by the dose of childhood nostalgia, though several users pointed out that the age group most interested in Teletubbies likely wasn’t posting about it.

‘Toddler twitter: teletubbies reboot dropping!?!? we will be watching,’ wrote one person.

Another user wrote, ‘So funny to release trailers for baby shows, like preschoolers are getting hype for the marketing drops. Baby IGN is putting up ‘Top 10 Things You Missed in the Teletubbies trailer.’

One user joked, ‘If you are logged into my Netflix and you see ‘continue watching teletubbies’ … please mind your business.’

And as they did with the original series, some viewers simply found the Teletubbies too creepy to watch.

Alex Zalben described the trailer as a ‘nightmare factory’ and said Tituss Burgess’ narration ‘100% makes it feel like a job Titus Andromedon would have gotten and ruined 30 minutes later on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.’

Others were freaked out by the animated Tiddlytubbies.

‘New Teletubbies trailer really just dropped these horrifying creatures in for a split second like a jump scare,’ wrote one user. ‘What is the implication of babytubbies? If the reproduction cycle of these mutants isn’t elaborated on within the first ten minutes I swear to G(1/???).’

‘Teletubbies can reproduce? Is that new lore? We must consult the texts,’ joked another viewer.

Some simply thought it was time to give the Teletubbies brand a rest.

‘Teletubbies have told every story they need to tell,’ an account joked about the famously free-associative show. ‘I don’t know how they think they’ve got enough material for a reboot.’
