Phoebe Bridgers has been named in a $3.8 million defamation suit from record producer Chris Nelson, who said the musical artist damaged his reputation by accusing him of abuse, violence, theft and grooming last year.

Nelson, in legal docs reviewed by TMZ, said that the Los Angeles native, 27, damaged his reputation and income after spreading falsehoods about him on her Instagram page in October 2020.

The producer said in court docs that Bridgers and his ex-girlfriend were in a consensual sexual relationship around 2018, the outlet reported.

The latest: Phoebe Bridgers has been named in a $3.8 million defamation suit from record producer Chris Nelson, who said she damaged his reputation by accusing him of abuse, violence, theft and grooming last year. The artist was snapped earlier this month in Nashville

Nelson told the court that following the split, the singer-songwriter and his ex-girlfriend remained dating, and both took to social media with damaging allegations against him.

Nelson said in court docs that Bridgers pointed more than 500,000 of her followers toward his ex’s social media page, where she accused him of misdeeds including fraud, theft, hate crimes and hacking, the outlet reported.

Nelson, who owns the downtown Los Angeles recording studio Sound Space, accused Bridgers of defamation, false light, intentional infliction of emotional distress and intentional interference with prospective economic relations, Radar reported, citing court docs.

According to the outlet, Nelson told the court initially met Bridgers through a drummer she collaborated with, Marshall Vore.

Bridgers was accused of defamation, false light, intentional infliction of emotional distress and intentional interference with prospective economic relations in the lawsuit

Bridgers performed at Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre earlier this month

Nelson identified his ex-girlfriend in court docs as Emily Bannon, Radar reported, and that he, Bannon and Bridgers engaged in a three-way relationship and on September 2, 2019, celebrated it with a ‘f***iversary.’

Nelson said he and Bannon split shortly thereafter, and she continued to date Bridgers, Radar reported, citing court docs.

Nelson claimed Bridgers put up ‘false and misleading statements’ about her on her Instagram in October 2020.

The producer said that the allegations ranged from Nelson fatally beating a ‘young Latinx’ man, hitting a man with a baseball bat and hacking into the accounts of women online, according to the outlet.

In his suit, Nelson said Bridgers ‘maliciously and intentionally’ posted the messages in question in an effort ‘to destroy’ his name.
