• John Mulaney made an unannounced appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers Tuesday night to reveal he’s having a baby with Olivia Munn, 41
• The comedian, 39, broke down his whirlwind year which started last September with him going to rehab 
• In May this year he announced his split from wife Anna-marie Tendler
• After relapsing and another stint in rehab, Mulaney moved to Los Angeles where he met and started dating Munn
• He also asked his longtime friend Meyers, a father of two himself, some humorous advice about being a dad
• The Munn has been rumored to be pregnant for several days before Mulaney’s confirmation

Olivia Munn and John Mulaney are expecting their first child together.

The comedian, 39, confirmed the happy news during an unannounced appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday evening as he credited Olivia and their unborn child for ‘saving me from myself.’

The new couple had been rumored to be dating all summer, after he split from his wife of seven years, Annamarie Tendler in May.  

Mulaney shared the news while breaking down his whirlwind year during a chat with his longtime pal Meyers.

‘I packed a lot into this… Is it September now? I went to rehab in September, I got out in October, I moved out of my home from my ex-wife,’ Mulaney began.

‘Then in the spring I went to Los Angeles and met and started to date a wonderful woman named Olivia,’ he continued, adding he met her for the first time at Seth’s wedding.  

Mulaney said although she was also right out of recovery when they started dating, adding she has ‘held my hand through that h**l that was his recovery.’

Munn had tweeted out support to Mulaney back in December 2020 in a tweet that read, ‘Sending SO MUCH love and support to John Mulaney. You got this’ with a red heart emoji and a lightning bolt emoji. 

Mulaney continued:  ‘I got into this relationship that’s been really beautiful with someone incredible. And we’re having a baby together. I was nervous when I was about to say the news!’ he said.

‘I’m gonna be a dad. I’m… we’re both really, really happy.’

Mulaney concluded: ‘I love you, Seth. You know, you guys saved me from drugs. 

‘And Olivia and this baby have helped save me from myself, and this early journey out of recovery. And, yeah, I don’t have a joke for that. 

‘I’m really grateful to you, buddy. Thank you.’

Sending good thoughts: Olivia sent ‘SO MUCH love and support’ John’s way after the news that he was entering rehab back in December 2020. It’s unclear what their relationship was like at the time

Formal: ‘Because I don’t want to be too formal, like, “Hi, I’m John,”‘ as Seth joked that being a father would be hard for him, because they, ‘won’t know your work’

A source close to the couple revealed to People shortly after Mulaney’s reveal on Late Night that the couple are ‘extremely excited.’

‘They are both extremely excited about the baby. They couldn’t be happier,’ the source revealed.

There is no indication how far along Munn is yet, or when her due date may be.

Dad jokes: ‘Will they know me as a writer?’ Mulaney joked, while also asking if they have triplets, ‘can we name the ugliest one Seth?’

Mulaney was married to makeup artist Tendler from July 2014 until their split in early May 2021, with Tendler stating publicly that she was ‘heartbroken.’

”I am heartbroken that John has decided to end our marriage. I wish him support and success as he continues his recovery,’ her statement read.

It was reported shortly thereafter that Mulaney and Munn had started dating, and they were spotted together for the first time in late June, with pregnancy rumors swirling just days before Mulaney’s announcement on Late Night.
