Donald Trump, the billionaire roiling the Republican presidential field with his controversial statements
Here’s the statement released Saturday afternoon from Trump’s campaign:
Mr. Trump fired Roger Stone last night. We have a tremendously successful campaign and Roger wanted to use the campaign for his own personal publicity. He has had a number of articles about him recently and Mr. Trump wants to keep the focus of the campaign on how to Make America Great Again
Stone, a veteran GOP strategist, disputed Trump’s version of events, saying he quit the developer’s campaign. Trump “didn’t fire me,†Stone wrote on Twitter. “I fired Trump.â€
