Hillary Clinton dismissed poll results showing that many people question her honesty and trustworthiness, saying she is confident that voters will sort out false claims made about her.
“I trust the American voter,†Clinton told CNN in an interview Tuesday.
Clinton said that she and her husband, former president Bill Clinton, have been subjected to false accusations from “the right†for decades, including claims about the foundation her husband is running.
That includes claims about her use of a private e-mail account during her years as secretary of State.
“Everything I did was permitted,†Clinton said, and the State Department is releasing some 55,000 pages of her e-mails.
Said Clinton: “People should and do trust me.â€
The 2016 Democratic presidential candidate also declined to discuss the rise of support for challenger Bernie Sanders, though she told CNN, “I always though this would be a competitive race.â€
Clinton said she is focusing on her own race, and “I feel very good about where my campaign is.â€
