
PETALUMA, Calif. (AP) — A 10-year-old hybrid named Quasi Modo, whose spinal birth defects left him a bit hunchbacked, is a leader of this year’s World’s Ugliest Dog contest.
The array bull-Dutch shepherd brew and his owners took a $1,500 esteem Friday night, besting 25 other dogs competing in a competition that applauds imperfection, organizers said.
Quasi Modo was deserted during an animal preserve before being adopted by a veterinarian in Loxahatchee, Florida, according to his autobiography posted on a contest’s website.

“My coming can be a small unsettling to some (I have had grown group burst on tip of their cars to get divided from me since they suspicion we was a hyena or Tasmanian devil) though once they get to know me we win them over with my bubbly personality,” his autobiography said.
Two Chinese crested and Chihuahua mixes named Sweepee Rambo and Frodo took a second- and third-place prizes, respectively.
An 8-year-old Chihuahua named Precious perceived a “spirit award,” honoring a dog and owners who have overcome obstacles and/or are providing use to a community. Precious, who is blind in one eye, is lerned to guard smells associated to low blood sugarine levels and warning her owner, a infirm veteran, of a problem, her autobiography said.
The contest, hold during a Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma, California, is in the 27th year.
The dogs are scored by a three-judge row in several categories, including special or surprising attributes, celebrity and healthy ugliness.
