“We’d like you to know that our intention is for every owner of a physical copy, or a digital copy bought at retail, who has valid proof of purchase to receive a refund,” said the studio in its statement.
Players turned away for a refund by retailers must email CD Projekt Red by Dec. 21. The studio said it will move forward with next steps once the request window closes.

On Friday, a forum post from electronics chain Best Buy said it would allow returns for select opened copies of “Cyberpunk 2077” by Dec. 21. It applies to standard and collector’s editions of the game for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as digital versions of the game for Xbox One.

The backlash against “Cyberpunk 2077” started at launch last week, as players discovered significant technical problems with versions of the game for PS4 and Xbox One, including freezing and other bugs.
According to a report from Bloomberg, angry staffers questioned the company’s board over unrealistic deadlines and grueling work hours ahead of the game’s launch. In September, Bloomberg reported the studio had instituted mandatory six-day workweeks leading up to launch.
