The best plays from Week 11 in college football

Despite the vast array of canceled games, Week 11 in college football was still full of improbable plays and highlights. As always, a healthy helping of receivers embarrassing defensive backs made this week’s list.

Two scoop-and-scores make appearances as well — one in the form of a fumble recovery and another after a blocked punt. This week was also the first time a tackle made the cut, and the monstrous hit does not disappoint.

The top five plays from Week 11:

Avery Williams, Boise State, CB: It took 52 seconds for the Broncos to score — and on special teams no less. Colorado State was backed up in its own end zone when its punt was blocked by Williams, who came streaking from the right edge. The special teams standout recovered the ball in the end zone to score the first touchdown of the 52-21 rout.

Colin Schooler, Texas Tech, LB: Schooler delivered the best tackle of the week with a thunderous touchdown-saving hit. On third-and-goal, Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer was flushed out of the pocket and, with seemingly a path to the end zone, elected to run it up the middle. Schooler proceeded to blow up one of Brewer’s blockers before stopping Brewer dead in his tracks at the 1-yard line. It was a game-changing tackle in the end as Baylor had to settle for a field goal and lost 24-23.

T.J. Simmons, West Virginia, WR: Jarret Doege dropped back and saw Simmons streaking along the right sideline and threw a dime to the 6-foot-2 redshirt senior. Simmons, with a defender draped all over him, brought down the catch near the 8-yard line and stumbled his way into the end zone for the touchdown. Simmons finished with four catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns in a 24-6 win over TCU.
