HONOLULU (AP) – A Hawaii male was killed Friday after he was apparently impaled by a check of a fish, officials said.
Witnesses during Honokohau Harbor in Kailua-Kona reported that a male in his 40s jumped from a post in an apparent try to locate a billfish, conspicuous West Hawaii Acting Battalion Chief John Whitman of Hawaii County’s glow department.
The fish was a swordfish about 3 feet prolonged with a check about 3 feet, a state Department of Land and Natural Resources conspicuous in a statement. It weighed about 40 pounds.
