Clippers’ Montrezl Harrell wins Sixth Man of the Year award as NBA’s top reserve

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Los Angeles Clippers forward Montrezl Harrell could start for many teams in the NBA.

For the Clippers, he is reserve — a reserve who averaged 18.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and shot 58% from the field.

On Friday, Harrell was named the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year for playing an integral part on a team that finished second in the Western Conference and had the league’s fourth-best record.

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Dennis Schroder finished second, Clippers guard Lou Williams was third and Detroit Pistons forward Christian Wood and Milwaukee Bucks guard George Hill tied for fourth.

Harrell received 58 first-place votes, 34 second-place votes and five third-place votes for 397 points. Schroder had 328 points on 35 first-place votes, 46 second-place votes and 15 third-place votes. Williams had 127 points.

Harrell was second n the NBA in bench scoring, fourth in bench rebounding, tied for fourth in field goal percentage and tied for league-best with most 30-point games off the bench (four).
