Tekashi 6ix9ine is headed out of prison for home arrest.
The 23-year-old rap artist, according to TMZ, was granted a release from a private facility in Queens to home arrest – effective immediately – by the presiding judge in his case, Judge Paul Engelmayer.
‘He’s out and he’s very happy to be released,’ his lawyer, Lance Lazzaro, told NBC News Thursday following the move, adding that the rapper doesn’t currently exhibit any symptoms of the pandemic.

Lazzaro said Tekashi, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, will be tested for the virus ‘when it becomes readily available.’
In court docs, the judge said that the Fefe artist must wear a GPS tracking device, and live at a location his probation officer clears first, TMZ reported.

The rapper ‘must remain at his residence except to seek any necessary medical treatment or to visit his attorney, in each instance with prior notice and approval by the Probation Department,’ the judge said in court docs.
The Bushwick, New York native’s legal team argued for the switch in venues saying that Tekashi was extra prone to complications from the coronavirus as someone who lives with asthma.

According to TMZ, the judge said that he did not consider the rapper to be a threat to society in coming to his ruling. He noted that the rapper has already completed the majority of his sentence, and that the decision was not announced until the rapper had landed safely at his location.
The judge had a change of heart from last week, when he initially declined the request, claiming it was in the hands of the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Lazzaro countered in saying that the judge was in charge of the issue due to the fact that the Bebe artist was in a private facility; the judge then approved the request pending any opposition from prosecutors in the case, according to TMZ.
U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman said that ‘in the event the Court finds ‘extraordinary and compelling reasons’ presented by the defendant’s medical condition, placing him at high risk during the COVID-19 outbreak, the Government does not oppose the defendant’s motion for compassionate release.’

According to Page Six, the rapper will be accountable to check in with his probation officer everyday via video conference.
The Stoopid artist last year was convicted in connection with racketeering, drug trafficking and weapons charges, and got a lesser sentence for his testimony against one-time associates. He was sentenced to two years in custody this past December, and had been slated to be released July 31.
The international pandemic has spread to a number of notable names in the rap genre, include Geto Boys’ rapper Scarface, Slim Thug and Scarface. Other notable names in the world of music who have tested positive for the virus include opera singer Placido Domingo, Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan, singer-songwriter Jackson Browne; Fountains of Wayne Cofounder Adam Schlesinger died earlier this week of complications from COVID-19.
As of Thursday, the death total for COVID-19 – declared a public health emergency by World Health Organization – had soared to 5,784 people in the U.S., The COVID Tracking Project reported, with 239,009 total positive diagnoses.Â
