Hawaii Woman Allegedly Sets Husband, Self On Fire After Discovering Girlfriend [UPDATE]

A Hawaii woman and her husband were taken to the hospital Sunday morning after the two were set on fire during an altercation.

According to Big Island Now, the woman, 53, confronted her estranged husband

The wife allegedly began pouring gasoline over the van when her husband told her that she would “have to burn him, too.” A struggle ensued, during which the pair became covered in gasoline. The woman then reportedly ignited a lighter

“They were struggling and there was gas all over the ground and the car and all over them, she flicked the lighter and they both caught up in flames

While the couple’s conditions have stabilized, both remain in medically-induced comas. Kaaihue-Kalua’s father has burns on 70 percent of his body

Big Island Police opened an attempted murder investigation following the incident.
