An ’embarrassed’ Jessica Biel was behind husband Justin Timberlake’s recent public apology for his cozy behavior with female co-star Alisha Wainwright last month at a New Orleans bar.

Biel, 37, ‘encouraged Justin to put out his statement on Instagram because she felt embarrassed by his actions and wanted him to take accountability,’ an insider told US Tuesday.

The Ely, Minnesota-born beauty, who shares a four-year-old son named Silas with the superstar singer, is ‘still united’ with Timberlake, 38, in the wake of the incident, the source told the publication.

The relationship between the 7th Heaven actress and Say Something singer fell under scrutiny November 21 after Timberlake was seen looking snug with actress Alisha Wainwright, 30, who is his co-star in the upcoming film Palmer, at the Bourbon Street establishment the Old Absinthe House bar. 

Last week, the SexyBack vocalist issued a public apology via his Instagram account, making clear that he regret that he embarrassed Biel with his behavior in the incident involving Wainwright, which he attributed to excessive boozing.

‘I stay away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family I feel it is important to address recent rumors that are hurting the people I love,’ the Memphis, Tennessee native wrote in the social media post. ‘

He referred to the incident, saying, ‘A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgement – but let me be clear – nothing happened between me and my costar. I drank way too much that night and regret my behavior. I should have known better.’

‘This is not the example I want to set for my son. I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation,’ he said, ‘and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be. This was not that.’

Timberlake wrapped up in saying he’s ‘incredibly proud to be working on Palmer’ and is ‘looking forward to continuing to make this movie and excited for people to see it.’
