Meghan McCain is opening up about her daytime gig at “The View,” acknowledging she gets “boos” from the talk show audience on a regular basis.

“It’s a very liberal audience in the studio, and they’re very vocal,” the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain revealed in an interview with Elle that published online Thursday. “People are always looking to turn you into something.”

Still, the 34-year-old seemed confident in her approach to the job she’s held since 2017, which offers her the chance to debate Hot Topics with current hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Abby Huntsman.

“My presence on the show has been, ‘Nobody’s going to bully me, nobody’s going to talk down to me, and nobody’s going to pull the kind of (expletive) that’s been pulled on a lot of people in this chair. And I will be vocal, and I will live in the moment, for better or worse,’ ” McCain said, though she sees room for improvement. “I should be better at being less reactive.”

Meghan McCain: I felt ‘petrified’ about revealing miscarriage but decided to ‘take the leap’

One regret she has followed an evening of drinks with co-workers last year. When the cameras were rolling the next day, she said “I hate Hillary Clinton,” and admitted to calling her “Crooked Hillary.”

To this day, the host bemoans her behavior.

“I apologized on TV and said that I was contributing to the polarization of this country,” she told Elle. “I really regret saying that. She was friends with my dad. It’s really not fair.”

And it’s McCain’s dad and her mom that she has to thank, in part, for her current role: Her parents told her to take the job.

“I didn’t take the offer seriously, because, no shade to the show, it just wasn’t the show that I wanted to work on,” McCain explained. “A carousel of people getting on and off; it didn’t seem to have a lot of direction.”

McCain recalls her dad “talked me into it. He said, ‘You can’t ever give up an opportunity to work on a network with Whoopi Goldberg.’ ”

The two hosts recently saw eye-to-eye when evaluating a clip from “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” featuring Kourtney Kardashian crying about turning 40. It was too much for Goldberg on the July 9 show. She feigned dramatically falling off her chair after watching Kourtney complain to sister Khloé Kardashian that she had “so much” but still wondered if she was content in life.

“I’m with Whoopi on this,” McCain said. “Not to be a Debbie Downer on this, but you have all the money, all the opportunities, life advantages in the entire world. There are people who can’t feed their children. I do not feel bad for her. Come on, have some self-reflection on this. It’s a bad look for you, Kourtney.”
