The Story Behind Elvis’ ‘Secret’ Weekend Retreat
Residents of Palm Springs, California are used to carrying Hollywood icons as neighbors. But one neighbor has stood out over a years, one with a really surprising weekend retreat. That celebrity? None other than Elvis Presley.
“Elvis leased this skill during 1350 Ladera Circle for about one year starting in Sep 1966,” Elvis historian Cory Cooper told The Huffington Post. “It was built by Robert Helene Alexander and was called a ‘House Of Tomorrow’ since of a singular design.” Robert Alexander was one of a many distinguished developers of Palm Springs during a mid-century period. Up until The King became a tenant, a skill served as Alexander’s home.
Though we can positively see a interest of a home — and, of course, a beautiful plcae — we wondered how a California home became a getaway for a Memphis-loving icon.
“Elvis’s manager Col. Tom Parker had a home in Palm Springs as well, that is where Elvis got a thought to have a home there,” Cooper says. “And since of a tighten plcae to Los Angeles when Elvis was filming movies, he could have a place to relax during during a weekends.” Presley eventually bought a separate property
The home was also dubbed a “Honeymoon Hideaway” for a time Presley spent there with his wife, Priscilla. Today, a property is open to a public
