iPhone XS eSIM Support Could Arrive With iOS 12.1

Apple is rolling out eSIM support for the iPhone XS and XS Max with iOS 12.1. The first beta release of the software was seeded out to developers and public testers earlier this week, eSIM support was discovered, prompting people to believe its official arrival is imminent.

The feature was unveiled during the iPhone event a few weeks back but Apple did not make it readily available with iOS 12. It seems the update is coming with iOS 12.1. However, there is one caveat: it’s solely based on carrier support. Verizon, T-Mobile and ATT have promised to support the feature, but it’s not available at the moment. We imagine it will go live once Apple seeds out iOS 12.1.

With eSIM support, users have the opportunity to use two lines with one device. To add a second line go to Settings Cellular Add Cellular Plan. The primary account will be labeled with a “P,” and if you have one set as a work line, it’ll have a “W” label.

Once Apple rolls out iOS 12.1 to all users with the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR (when it launches), they can take advantage of the eSIM feature.
