Amazon Prime Day Was a Success Even Though It Was Dogged by Issues

Amazon’s Prime Day came and went like a flash, and it was a bit of a mixed bag with users. Customers trying shop were met with loading errors preventing them from accessing the hundreds of deals available for a limited time, but that apparently did little to curve Amazon’s success.

According to Amazon, Prime Day this year became “the biggest shopping event in Amazon history,” eclipsing past shopping events, including Black Friday, Cyber Monday and previous Prime Days. Amazon didn’t divulge specific numbers about the products sold but it did reveal which were the best-selling products.

Unsurprisingly, among them were its own Fire TV stick and Amazon Echo Dot. The two are already relatively affordable, but with the Prime Day discount, it turned them into must-have for customers. Other products that proved to be hits with customers around the world were the Instant Pot, SanDisk memory cards, Philips Hue light bulbs, LifeStraw Personal Water Filter, PS4 Pro and 23andMe DNA Test.

Amazon also revealed that it saw the most single-day sign-ups for its Prime service ever. Overall, it seems to have been a pretty successful day for Amazon, technical issues notwithstanding.
