OnePlus doesn’t believe wireless charging is all that important

Most flagships let you charge without any wires, but the OnePlus 6 sticks to the old-fashioned way of getting juice.

OnePlus recently introduced its latest flagship with cutting-edge technology in almost every area but left out wireless charging. The OnePlus 6 switches from an all-metal design to a mostly-glass design. Although the frame is still made from aluminum, the entire back is made from glass.

The opportunity was there to include something popular, and OnePlus didn’t take the open shot. Along with looking more stylish, glass enables wireless charging as well. Yet here we are seeing OnePlus completely ignored that.

Here’s the brief statement Business Insider was given on this matter:

“We don’t really feel the need to add wireless charging. We’re not going to add a feature just for the sake of it.”

OnePlus doesn’t think wireless charging is necessary despite the technology gaining traction beyond the mobile industry.

Accessory makers are profiting from it being present on the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and Galaxy S9. Wireless charging pads are also appearing on furniture and in cars, so it’s tough to understand how OnePlus came to the conclusion that people aren’t asking for it.
