Apple releases first beta of iOS 11.4—Here’s what’s new

After releasing iOS 11.3 last week, Apple on Monday introduced the first beta for iOS 11.4. The newest release can be downloaded by developers and those who participate in Apple’s beta program.

It’s unclear what changes are featured in the newest software. Notably, Apple pulled Messages on iCloud from iOS 11.3 despite extensive testing over the last few months. We could finally see that feature arrive in the upcoming update, along with AirPlay 2.

With Apple’s education-centric event behind us, it’s likely we’ll see the company begin testing its Schoolwork app for students, which should be available over the summer.

With iOS 11.3, Apple rolled out four new Animoji, battery management features, and Business Chat for Messages, among other features. We’ll be sure to dig through Apple’s new release for any significant changes.

Update: Messages for iCloud has returned in the newest beta.

Xcode

• Debugging a disabled Messages extension may cause Messages to crash. (33657938)

• Workaround: Before starting the debug session, enable the extension by tapping the More (…) button to show the list of apps, then tapping the Edit button, and then tapping the switch to turn on the extension.

• After a simulated iOS device starts up, it’s not possible to pull down the Lock screen. (33274699)

• Workaround: Lock and unlock the simulated device and then reopen Home screen.
