The moment Google addresses an issue, another one seems to pop up. The search giant this week said it plans to release an update that fixes an issue that renders parts of the Pixel 2 XL’s display unresponsive.
According to numerous posts on Google’s Pixel User Community forums, the Pixel 2 XL has been hit by “dead spots,†which display images but don’t recognize when they’re being touched by a user.
What’s strange is devices plagued by the issue will register when a finger slides across the display, but not taps. That’s a big hindrance to productivity and can really disrupt everyday use.
Thankfully, Google has already responded to customer complaints and said a software fix is on the way.
“The team has been investigating, and this will be addressed in a future OTA update,†Google said in response to the issue.
Since going on sale, the Pixel 2 XL has endured a number of issues related to its display, which Google has tried to mitigate with a software update. We absolutely love the Pixel 2 XL because of its clean software and fantastic camera. But the more issues that crop up, the less faith we have in the device’s overall quality.
We’ll let you know when Google rolls out the software update.
