President Trump joins the tradition of wearing matching shirts at APEC summit

Another day, another Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting, another matching shirt.

President Trump on Friday participated the tradition of wearing matching tops for the “family photo” at APEC. He and other world leaders in attendance sported blue silk shirts, selected by their Vietnamese hosts this year.

The tradition dates back to 1993, when then-President Clinton played host to the meeting in Seattle and gifted world leaders with bomber jackets, ABC News reported.

The next year, Indonesia followed suit, and the practice has stuck ever since.

That means moments like then-President Bush donning a traditional Peruvian poncho in 2008:

And then-President Obama wearing a barong tagalog, traditional formal attire in the Philippines, back in 2015:
