GoPro announced earlier this week that it’s recalling its brand new GoPro Karma drones. The drones are prone to just suddenly falling out of the sky. Yeah, not good, especially if you’re around kids, traffic, or anywhere where falling objects are a problem.
Warning: NSFW language in the video below:
In the video above, you can see exactly what happens. One moment, the GoPro Karma is whizzing around the skies capturing high-quality footage of a park and baseball fields below. The next, it’s suddenly falling from the sky until it crashes at the feet of its operator. That’s when the owner’s priceless reaction comes: “What the F***!?”
What’s falling faster, the GoPro Karma or GoPro’s share price?
You can see why GoPro needed to recall its unreliable drones. As I discussed earlier this week, though, this is a much bigger problem for GoPro than a simple recall. The company is trying to expand into new markets to offset rapidly declining sales of its action cameras.
Its first foray is already a failure, which isn’t good news for a firm that’s trying to establish itself as something more than just a camera retailer.
