The reviews of Apple’s AirPods have been mixed, with some praising their functionality and others criticizing their design and price. What does Apple CEO Tim Cook have to say now that the wireless earbuds are available to consumers? He’s full of nothing but praise.
During his recent visit to CNBC the New York Stock Exchange, Cook was asked about the AirPods launch, to which the Apple CEO explained the earbuds are a runaway success. They’re apparently in such high demand that Apple can’t make new units fast enough.
Immediately after going on sale earlier this month, shipments quickly slipped into next year; in some cases, shipments aren’t expected to arrive until late February. Retail stores regularly receive shipments but in limited quantities, making the headphones a very hot commodity.
Why are they such a big deal?
The beauty of the AirPods is in their simplicity. Thanks to the custom-designed Apple W1 chip, the headphones apparently produce a more efficient wireless connection for improved sound. And they seamlessly connect to existing Apple devices, making them easy to use.
If you haven’t been able to track down a pair of AirPods, you can still order them through Apple’s website for $159, or you can use a third-party tracker to keep an eye on your local store’s inventory.
