The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild delayed until Summer 2017, according to rumor

Rumors are coming in that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild could possibly be pushed into next summer.

Writer Emily Rogers, who has accurately reported on several Nintendo rumors in the past through credible sources, is now saying that the highly anticipated game will not be available for the launch of the Nintendo Switch in March. Her sources claim that the localization has proven to be much more challenging than Nintendo had originally anticipated, and it has fallen behind schedule.

She sys that the localization could wrap itself up in December, and because it is Nintendo’s largest and most expansive game to date, combing the map for bugs and spelling errors could take an additional four to six months. This would push it beyond the expected March 2017 release for the Wii U and the Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo needs a new launch game for the Switch if this proves to be true

If this rumor pans out, Nintendo will need a new game to highlight its new console when it launches in March. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was set to be everyone’s first purchase, but if pushed into the summer, that doesn’t leave us with a clear image of what options we’ll have.

Rogers points out that this is just speculation at this point, and everything should be taken with a grain of salt. For the Switch’s sake, I hope this isn’t true.
