The Legend of Zelda isn’t exactly known for its humor, but when put in the hands of a Japanese comedian, it can be pretty funny. The popular Japanese variety show Game Center CX is once again teaming up with Nintendo to sell an upcoming video game, and this time it is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. However, the show’s usual host Shinya Arino is currently up to his neck trying to collect all the original Pokémon, so he has a substitute.
Comedian Masaru Hamaguchi is stepping in for a spin-off video series called Game Center DX, and in the video, he takes a look at the upcoming hit, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
It’s worth pointing out that he is playing the Wii U version of the game and not the Nintendo Switch’s.
Game Center CX is the best way to sell Breath of the Wild
Game Center CX is a beloved television show on both sides of the Pacific, and fans of video games hold it in high regard as one of the most substantial and entertaining video game television series ever produced. Nintendo frequently works with the show to advertise its games, so the overlap between the show and Nintendo’s fans is already pretty high.
Those who watch the show are generally retro-gamers who have grown into Nintendo fans already.
Hopefully, Nintendo will find more mainstream ways to advertise The Legend of Zelda in Japan, where it has never been as successful as it has in the States. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be released for the Wii U and Nintendo Switch in March 2017.
