Thanksgiving Day parade livestream: How to watch from anywhere

I don’t know about you, but the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade is as much a must-watch staple on Thanksgiving as watching NFL football.

I remember, as a kid growing up, making a drowsy walk downstairs on Thanksgiving morning to tune in to the parade with my grandmother. To this day, I still watch the parade whenever possible, watching the big balloons of characters float down Broadway making their way down to Macy’s.

As a cordcutter, though, I no longer have cable to watch the big event. In the same boat? Have cable but need to watch on the go? There are a few options for you. Here’s how to stream the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

1. Subscribe to a premium service

You don’t have to do this, but it’s an easy option if you still haven’t thought about paying for a streaming service. PlayStation Vue is my go-to option right now, and it has NBC for tuning in to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Sling TV also offers NBC, but only in select markets, so you might be out in the cold if you’re not included there. Only go this route if you think you want to pay for at least a month of service.

2. Stream it from NBC

Maybe you do have cable and want to watch the parade at someone’s house who doesn’t, or on your cell phone while you’re in the back of a car. You should be able to stream right from the NBC app if you have cable at home. Just download it and enter in your subscriber credentials.

3. Stream it on YouTube for free

Hey look at that! I saved the best for last. You can stream the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for free this year by heading to Verizon’s YouTube account at 9 a.m. local time when the festivities kick off.

Verizon is also going to stream it in full 360-degrees, so if you have Google Cardboard, Daydream View VR or Gear VR, among other headsets, you should be able to watch as if you’re standing right there in the cold on Broadway. It should be available in the spot of the placeholder video below on Thanksgiving morning.

If not, just head to Verizon’s YouTube channel.
