Sony Xperia X Compact now available to purchase in the U.S.

Sony’s new Xperia X Compact is now available to purchase in the U.S., priced at $499.99 off-contract. Just like its predecessors, the device packs impressive specifications — including a 23-megapixel rear-facing camera — into a more manageable form factor.

Sadly, the Xperia X Compact isn’t quite as exciting as we had anticipated. We expected it to have almost identical specifications to the high-end Xperia XZ, only with a smaller display, but that’s not quite the case this time around — as we found out in our hands-on.

Nevertheless, if you’re into smaller smartphones, the Xperia X Compact is possibly one of the prettiest Android-powered options you can buy right now. It’s currently available from Amazon.com in the U.S., priced at $499.99 with free one-day shipping for Prime subscribers.

The Xperia X Compact offers a 4.6-inch 720p display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, and a 2,700mAh battery. It also boasts a 23-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

If you don’t mind larger screens, you might want to consider the Xperia XZ, which looks just as good and packs a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 820 processor, 3GB of RAM, USB-C connectivity, and the same 23-megapixel camera. It’ll be available on October 23.
