New Nokia Android smartphone spotted in benchmark

We’re going to see new Nokia smartphones at some point, that much we already know, thanks to confirmations made by an executive a couple of months ago. A benchmark that was recently spotted on GeekBench suggests that an Android-powered device dubbed the Nokia D1C is in the works.

Don’t get your hopes up for a flagship Android phone, though. The benchmark suggests the phone is powered by a Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 1.4GHz, and the multi-core score of 3120 isn’t exactly going to blow your pants off. Also, keep in mind that this is a very different Nokia than the one you might remember.

Microsoft bought Nokia’s Devices and Services division, so that piece of the Nokia you knew and loved is long gone. Also, new Nokia devices are going to be designed by HMD Global Oy, which owns the rights to the Nokia brand, and we don’t really know much about what sort of quality those phones will offer. It is, however, reportedly working on a couple of products with flagship specs.

We still don’t know when Nokia might unveil the new Android smartphone spotted in the benchmark.
