Asus on Tuesday made its brand new Chromebook Flip C302 official. The name isn’t particularly elegant but the device, a successor to the original Chromebook Flip, is certainly worth checking out, especially if you’re a student who is hooked into Google’s expansive ecosystem.

Equipped with a 12.5-inch convertible 1080p display, the C302 is a slick-looking device that comes in at just 13.7mm. Some of its specs include an Intel Core m3 processor (upgradeable to an m7), 128GB of storage, and support for up to 8GB of RAM. It also sports two USB-C ports, a microSD card reader and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

What makes Asus’s new device standout is its ability to flip the screen all the way around. That means the Chromebook Flip C302 one of the more versatile devices in the Chromebook market, and perfect as a starter device in education.

Speaking of education, the device features a keyboard with 1.4mm of key travel and what Asus says “minimal key float,” so typing a lengthy term paper shouldn’t be a problem. The device also comes with palm rejection technologies so you don’t run into unintentional cursor movements.

You can get it starting today

When you consider it has a microSD card reader, 10 hour battery life, and two USB-C ports, the Flip C302 doesn’t sound half bad. If you’re intent on picking up a Chromebook, Asus’s new machine can be purchased today in the U.S. for $499.
