LeEco smartphones and TVs hit Best Buy, Amazon

LeEco announced on Tuesday that its smartphones and TVs, first introduced in the US last month, will be available from Amazon and Best Buy beginning December 1. The company currently sells two smartphones and a handful of televisions ranging in price from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars in the U.S.

LeEco’s Le Pro3 smartphone is compelling enough, at least considering it offers a metal body and a Snapdragon 821 processor, but the firm’s software leaves a lot to be desired. In our tests, the Snapdragon 821 processor — the same in the Google Pixel — and 4GB of RAM weren’t enough to make for a very smooth experience. LeEco also tries to push its streaming content on consumers, though very little of it was worth watching… until now.

ATT DIRECTV NOW spices things up

LeEco is partnering with ATT to offer access to ATT’s new DIRECTV NOW on-demand streaming service. Folks who buy Le S3 or Le Pro3 smartphones will receive 3 months of service. The same applies to new purchases of the Super4 X43 Pro ectv. 6 months of ATT DIRECTV NOW is available to customers who grab the new Super4 X55 or Super4 X65 TVs, while LeEco is offering a full year to folks who buy the high-end uMax85 ecotv.

I’m not sure that’s quite enough of a reason to pick up the device, but at least it’s getting better. LeEco also announced that consumers can now buy goods from its LeMall website 24/7.
