LeEco sets U.S. launch for Oct. 19, new phones incoming?

LeEco just sent out invitations for its official U.S. launch on October 19. The Chinese company didn’t mention any specific products in the invitation, but it does highlight several categories where LeEco already competes.

LeEco (previously known as Letv) started as a streaming giant in China before expanding into hardware. Now it makes everything from Android smartphones to TVs to connected bikes. The company even unveiled an autonomous electric car earlier this year, though that’s still just a concept for now.

The company previously confirmed it would launch in the U.S. this fall, bringing its mobile devices and video streaming service to the country. At the time, LeEco employed 400 people in the country and said it planned to increase that to 1,000 employees by the end of the year.

LeEco’s launch event is set to take place at the Innovation Hanger, a “social innovation space” located inside the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco that hosts exhibits, workshops and community events. We’re curious to see what the company will announce, especially if it means one of its high-powered Android smartphones is finally coming to the U.S.
