LastPass now offers premium features for free

There are many reasons why you should use a password manager, and today’s LastPass update makes it even more enticing for consumers to get with the trend.

Previously, a free LastPass account allowed users to create, store, and organize their passwords on a single device. The problem is most people today own multiple devices, and the only way to sync across a computer and phone is to purchase a premium subscription. That changes today.

Going forward, syncing across multiple devices is free, a $12/year value. If you currently have a free LastPass account, you’ll get access to the new feature right away. Everything in your vault will now be available on your phone, tablet, computer, PDA, cave wall, etc.

“By offering LastPass for free across all your devices, we’re making it that much easier for everyone to make good password habits the norm,” wrote Joe Siegrist, Founder of LastPass.

Premium subscribers still get access to better features, including an ad-free experience, family sharing, 1GB of encrypted file storage, tech support, and more. If you don’t want to pay, however, a free account isn’t bad.

A password manager is a must

LastPass isn’t the only password managing software on the market but it could make some headway in the fight against 1Password with today’s news. If you aren’t yet set up with a password manager, LastPass is a good place to start.
