iPhone 8 said to sport advanced facial recognition and AR capabilities

As advanced as the new feature sounds, it may not be exclusive to the iPhone 8. Hall hints there is “more unit volume” for production of the new system, suggesting we may see the technology appear in the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7 Plus. That sounds unlikely, but certainly not out of the realm of possibility.

Facial recognition is by no means new

Apple has been sitting on Primesense technology for several years now, so it’s about time we see why the Cupertino company made the acquisition. Introducing facial recognition technology to the iPhone 8 seems like the perfect fit. But, remember, facial recognition is nothing new in mobile.

Other potential changes coming to the iPhone 8 may include a 5.8-inch OLED display, a fingerprint reader embedded into the screen, and a revamped design.
