Hulu adds ESPN, Disney, and ABC to live TV service

Hulu’s upcoming live TV service just go a big boost with the signing of The Walt Disney Company and 21st Century Fox. And more partners could sign on before the service launches next year.

Hulu already announced intentions to launch a streaming TV service. Now, it’s just a matter of getting partners to sign on. Time Warner, which owns CNN, TNT, and TBS, has already signed a deal with Hulu, making the addition of Disney and Fox a significant step in the right direction.

Services such as PlayStation View and Sling TV have pretty robust offerings, so Hulu will need to at the very least match those before launching. That means signing with CBS and NBC, which the streaming service still hasn’t done.

However, Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins has already said he expects more partners to sign on before launching. Comcast is part owner of Hulu so it’s only a matter of time before the network announces an agreement.

Consumers will have plenty of options

We got an early taste of what live TV streaming can be this year and with even more competitors ready to jump into action, including ATT’s DirecTV Now, consumers will have a lot of options in 2017. It will just be a matter of what price you’re willing to pay.

Hulu hasn’t unveiled a release date or price for its service though we should learn more early next year.
