When Apple got onstage to introduce the iPhone 7, even with the introduction of the new Jet Black color and dual-camera, the thing that stole the show was the elimination of the headphone jack. Sure, “courage” doesn’t sound like much of a reason to make this move, but it happened and now you have to pick up the pieces left by just having a single port.
Luckily, the iLDOCK adds a headphone jack to your new iPhone 7. The iLDOCK is a Kickstarter project that started off as a means to add the functionality of a 3.5mm headphone jack to the iPhone. The dock also comes with a Lightning port alongside the headphone jack, which means you can listen to music and charge your phone at the same time.
It’s not available for purchase yet, but you can back the project with as little as $10 to get the iLDOCK. The build of the little dock is solid but does leave something to be desired. Although it looks like aluminum, it is not, and it definitely doesn’t feel like it. Still, for a device that can be purchased for $10, while a buck more than the dongle Apple sells you, it has twice the functionality, in that sense it’s a bargain.
If you’ve gotten your hands on an iPhone 7, this might be an accessory worth checking out.
