Google Wifi is now available to preorder for $129

Google Wifi is now available to preorder, which means dealing with poor Wi-Fi reception should be a thing of the past.

Announced at its Pixel event in October, Google Wifi is a mesh-capable wireless router designed to blanket your home in Wi-Fi-goodness. Set up one Wifi device—or three. The experience is meant to be “plug and play” so you should be able to set up a connected system without the help of a Best Buy Geek Squad employee.

Google Wifi is by no means a unique concept but it’s primed to take the idea of mesh networks mainstream. Everyone has experience spotty Wi-Fi in their home—Google Wifi (and similar devices) aims to fix that.

No more bad reception

By setting up a mesh network in your home, you’ll get full coverage no matter what room you’re in, whether you’re in the living room or the master bedroom. And because it’s a mesh network, you won’t need to manually switch between points; Wifi’s mesh capabilities creates a single network that provides a large blanket of connectivity.

Other Wifi features include Network Assist and integration with a Google Wifi app, which gives users full control over their network, including the ability to easily share passwords.

Google says one Wifi router, which is $129, will cover up to 1500 square feet. Or you can pick up a 3-pack for $299, which promises to cover up to 4,500 square feet.

You can preorder Google Wifi now, with shipments estimated to go out in the next 2-3 weeks.
