Ford Motor Company announced a new partnership with Sygic Car Navigation that will provide new “phone-to-touchscreen navigation technology” to users of it SYNC 3 car system.
Not many details are known about the partnership, but essentially it will let you project navigation apps from your smartphone to the display in Ford cars that support the SYNC 3 system. This new partnership provides drivers a new choice to use different apps such as Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze without the need of a system like Car Play or Android Auto.
It’s a move that will give the drivers of Ford’s cars more choice and one that they’ll be happy with. You still have the option to opt for the SYNC 3 default navigation system, if that’s your prerogative.
Ford and Sygic provide a platform for both iOS and Android
Sygic Car Navigation will be the first navigation app to partner up with Ford. Its technology will be available for both iOS and Android. This is a bold move for Ford since standalone systems and CarPlay and Android Auto have risen to the top of car navigation systems. It’ll be interesting to see how this move pays off for Ford, but giving choice to consumers is always a good move.
