Pokémon GO is set to miss out on the world’s largest population with the Chinese government banning the game throughout the country. Pokémon GO and other augmented reality games reportedly provide too much of a security risk to consider.
According to Reuters, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television cite “a high level of responsibility to national security and the safety of people’s lives and property” to test these games for dangers with other government bodies. This comes on behalf of reports of car accidents, hit and run problems, data privacy, and public locations being revealed.
The games reportedly provide too much of a “threat to geographical information security and the threat to transport and the personal safety of consumers,” according to a games panel of the China Audio-video and Digital Publishing Association.
