Ubisoft is now clearly sitting on something it wants to share with the gaming crowd. For the second time in a week, Rayman series creator Michel Ancel has released teaser images for the long awaited sequel to his cult-hit Beyond Good Evil, and this latest image shows off a brand new character.
We had a chance to meet anthropomorphic heroes in the previous game, but Ancel never turned to sharks for inspiration! Makes me wonder if he’s been binging over mid-90s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle knock-offs a little too hard.
On Wednesday, Ancel released an image of what appears to be Pey’j, the adoptive pig father of Beyond Good Evil’s heroine Jade, as a baby riding on the shoulders of mysterious man who resembles Big Boss from the Metal Gear Solid games. Early speculation believes this to be Jade’s father or grandfather.
Beyond Good Evil 2 is clearly boiling under the seat of Ubisoft right now, but why can’t the company show it off? Could it be waiting for the next UbiDays, or is it too distracted by threats of hostile takeover? Just tossing this out there, but the prevailing rumor of Nintendo’s involvement in the game’s funding could mean we’ll be seeing it as an exclusive once the NX is revealed.
Anything is possible after 13 years of waiting for this sequel. I have more hope now than at any point in the last ten years that we’ll finally be returning to Jade’s space-faring adventure.
