Alto on Thursday introduced a new update that might make you jump ship from Google Inbox. The feature, coming to Android and iOS, is known as “Dashboard,” and is designed to organize your life into Google Now-like cards.
What makes Alto such a tantalizing alternative to a traditional email app is how it sorts emails into stacks; there are categories for travel, photos, files, shopping, and personal. This helps strip out important information from your email into the Dashboard view, which is where you can quickly see upcoming events, flights, hotel reservations, and more.
Separating the important stuff from the noise of your inbox keeps your life organized, all in beautiful, visually-pleasing cards. It’ll even surface relevant items when they’re needed, such as a boarding pass on the day of your flight. For folks who have busy schedules, Alto’s Dashboard is a great tool for keeping track of what’s going on.
Alto isn’t the only app to use this approach to email but it’s certainly one of the most elegant. See it in action in the video below.
