Northern Ontario MP Charlie Angus is expected to step aside as the New Democrats’ caucus chair today as he considers a possible run at the party leadership.
The 54-year-old member for Timmins-James Bay is mulling his options as the NDP looks to replace Tom Mulcair as leader next October.
Quebec’s Ruth Ellen Brosseau is expected to replace Angus as caucus chair.
First elected in 2004, Angus also serves as his party’s indigenous affairs critic and is an outspoken advocate for indigenous communities, including the troubled Attawapiskat First Nation that sits within his own riding
