Amazon announced an upgraded version of its Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote on Wednesday. The new streaming dongle features upgraded specs for better voice controls while also shaving $10 off the price.
The new Fire TV Stick packs a quad-core chip (up from the old dual-core model), which the company says means better voice search and improved performance overall. The device also boasts faster Wi-Fi antennas, but sports the same 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM offered by the previous model.
The included Alexa Voice remote hasn’t really changed. It still offers voice controls with the click of a button. So you can tell Alexa to search for something to watch or control what’s playing. You can also access other Alexa Skills, allowing you to do dim the lights, order a pizza or hail an Uber with your TV remote.
The upgraded Fire TV Stick is available now to pre-order for $39.99 (down from $49.99) and ships on October 20. Amazon is also throwing in $65 worth of free content from Hulu, Sling TV and Amazon Video if you activate the device by October 31.
