2018 Lexus LS 500 unveiled: Leaner, meaner and more exciting

Lexus unveiled the brand new 2018 LS 500 at the North American Auto Show on Monday and it looks leaner, meaner and more exciting.

The LS is the latest of the Lexus vehicles to receive a redesign using the company’s new design cues. The LS is the flagship of the company, one that actually launched the brand back in 1990. The LS 500 is the 5th version of the model and it looks to be the best yet.

“Longer, Lower, Wider” is what is being touted for the LS’s new bolder design. The changes certainly make the car look more trim and nimble. In fact the new LS uses the GA-architecture which promises a more dynamic experience.

The 2017 LS 500 features an all-new 3.5-liter V6 engine, which Lexus promises drives more like a V8 engine. With an output of 415 HP and 442 lb-ft of torque, the LS should be a blast to drive. The LS has always been a heavier car, as most flagship luxury cars are, but the 2017 LS 500 posts an impressive 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds.

This is the new Lexus

Lexus has been striving to rebrand the image as more aggressive, in both design and drive. It has been doing so in a way not to alienate its long-standing customers.  It appears that the LS is trying to maintain a balance between both. I like look of the new sleek headlights and aggressive fascia. The cabin still sits back on the long hood and gives it the look of a premier vehicle. I can’t wait to drive it.
